Dometic PerfectView CAM44 twin reversing camera - silver, 140/50°, IP68, for motorhome and caravan
- Dometic PerfectView CAM44 is a silver twin camera with 140° and 50° lenses, motorised shutter, microphone and a 20 m cable. IP68, 12 V, for motorhomes and caravans.
Dometic PerfectView CAM44 is a colour twin camera in silver (catalogue number 9600000043). One aluminium housing holds two separate lenses: a close-range wide-angle view (approx. 140° diagonal) and a long-range view (approx. 50°). In reverse, three coloured distance marks appear on a connected monitor, and IR LEDs support the image at night. A motorised cover protects the close-range lens when you are not manoeuvring. The product pack includes a 20 m system cable, installation material and a manual. Protection class IP68, supply 12 V DC.

What it is for
CAM44 watches the area behind the vehicle when you manoeuvre or park. The close-range lens covers the zone directly behind the rear wall, while the long-range lens gives a view similar to looking through a rear window - you can switch it on even when you are not in reverse.
The camera is intended primarily for vehicles. In practice it is fitted on motorhomes, camper vans and caravans when you need a permanent view of the rear for pitching, hitching or avoiding obstacles.
Image and sound travel by cable to a colour monitor. The camera leaves the factory with a mirrored picture, so the monitor must use a normal (non-mirrored) picture mode for correct left-right orientation.
Installation notes
- Fit the camera bracket on the rear wall or crossmember as described in the manual, using the supplied insulation pad.
- Route the 20 m system cable to the cab so it cannot chafe on sharp edges or foul moving parts.
- Connect the camera to a PerfectView monitor and to a 12 V DC supply as shown in the wiring diagram. Power consumption is max. 4 W.
- When testing circuits, use a diode test lamp - filament test lamps can pull the voltage down.
- After fitting, check lens switching, cover movement and the three distance marks on the monitor in reverse.
Scope of delivery
- PerfectView CAM44 camera with motorised cover (silver).
- 20 m system cable.
- Installation material and manual.
- The installation manual also lists items such as the bracket, protective cover, insulation pad and CAM44 adapter box.
CAM44 versus other PerfectView cameras
CAM44 combines two separate lenses in one compact housing instead of stretching a single wide-angle image for long range. If you need a navigation-system adapter, CAM 44 NAV is the matching twin version.
Safe use
- A rear-view system is only an aid. It does not replace careful reversing or mirror checks.
- Operating temperature: -30 to +70°C. Storage: -30 to +85°C.
- The housing is IP68, but seal mounting holes only as the manual describes.
- Do not use longer screws for the camera guard - over-long screws damage the camera.
- E4 approval covers the camera as a device; road-traffic rules still apply.
Care
Wipe the lenses and cover with a soft, damp cloth without aggressive solvents. After washing the vehicle, check that the motorised cover opens and closes freely. Keep connectors dry and clean. For long idle periods, isolate the supply as described for your vehicle.

FAQ
Does CAM44 have one lens or two?
Two separate lenses in one housing: a close-range wide-angle lens and a long-range lens. You switch them manually or automatically.
What does the motorised cover do?
It protects the close-range lens from dirt and damage when you are not reversing. Long-range vision remains possible through an aperture in the cover.
What power supply is required?
12 V DC. The manual states an operating range of 12-16 V and a maximum consumption of 4 W.
Is the camera weatherproof?
Yes, IP68. That still requires correct sealing of mounting holes as described in the manual.
Can I connect it to any monitor?
The camera sends image and sound by cable to a colour monitor in the PAL standard. On the product page Dometic lists the PerfectView M 75L AHD monitor among accessories. Match connectors and picture mode (the camera is factory pre-mirrored) using both manuals.
What is in the box?
According to the product card: camera, 20 m system cable, installation material and manual.
