Dometic profile seal 5 m for Heki 1 roof window and Seitz S3 window outer frame - rubber, no. 550E23

This is a genuine Dometic spare part: a rubber profile seal supplied as a 5 m length. On the Heki 1 roof window parts list it is item 27 with part number 550E23, and the same profile fits the outer frame of Seitz S3 hinged windows. Replace it when the old rubber has gone hard, cracked or water gets in around the frame.

Where this seal works

On the Heki 1 roof window the seal belongs to the base frame, the part fitted into the roof opening. On the Dometic parts list it is item 27 of the complete base frame. On Seitz S3 windows the same profile seals the outer frame against the vehicle wall. The ridge of the profile sits in the frame groove, and the lips press against the wall or roof to keep out water and draughts.

Is this the right seal?

• The Heki 1 uses several different seals. This one is for the base frame (contact with the roof), not for the glass.
• The Heki 1 glass has its own seals, with and without forced ventilation.
• Before ordering, compare the cross-section of your old seal with the photo.
• If you have an S4, S5 or S7 window, this seal is not intended for it.

Before replacing

• Remove the old seal and clean rubber residue and dirt out of the frame groove
• Check the frame for cracks
• Work in warm conditions, the rubber is easier to lay
• Plan the joint where the least water runs off

How to replace the seal

• Start in the middle of a long side of the frame, not at a corner.
• Press the ridge into the groove along the whole length without stretching the rubber, as it will shrink over time and open a gap.
• Guide the seal around the corners in a curve and press it in firmly.
• Finally cut off the excess with a sharp knife so both ends meet without a gap.

Care

• Clean the seal with water and a mild detergent, no solvents
• Once a season check that the rubber is not hard or cracked
• Before winter storage you can treat the rubber with a seal care product
