GOK SKU SSV-K is a coupling valve, a ball valve combined in one body with an SKU gas quick coupler. You fit it in the 8 mm gas pipe of a motorhome or caravan and get a fixed point for connecting portable gas appliances such as a camping stove or a grill. The appliance is connected with a hose ending in an STN plug-in fitting. The valve has a built-in interlock: the twist grip can be turned to the open position only after the STN plug is inserted, and the plug can be released only when the grip is in the closed position. This is the straight-through version: RVS 8 inlet with type M union nut and type DU cutting ring, and SKU outlet. The body is made of bright brass and the maximum permissible pressure is 5 bar.

What the SKU SSV-K valve is for

In a motorhome or caravan, gas from the cylinder runs through pipes to the stove, heater and fridge. If you want to supply a grill or a stove standing next to the vehicle from the same system, you need a safe gas outlet. You fit the SKU SSV-K valve directly in the low pressure pipe and connect the portable appliance with an STN plug hose. When not in use, the outlet stays closed and cannot be opened without a plug. The SKU quick coupler is tamper-proof, so only an STN plug can unlock it.

How the interlock works

• The valve combines a ball valve made to EN 331 and a type SKU quick coupler to DIN 4815-5.
• Gas flows only when the STN plug of the hose is inserted in the coupler and the grip is turned 90° to the stop in the open position.
• The STN plug can be released only with the grip in the closed position.
• The valve works in two positions only, fully open or fully closed, so you cannot leave it half open.

Connections and version

• Inlet: RVS 8, a compression fitting for a gas pipe with an 8 mm diameter, with type M union nut and type DU cutting ring.
• Outlet: SKU quick coupler for STN DN 8 plugs to DIN 4815-5.
• Straight-through version with one inlet and one outlet. GOK also makes a branch version with an additional RVS 8 port for the rest of the system.
• Only the valve is included. The hose with STN plug is sold separately.

Where to install

• The valve is designed for LPG systems in the gas phase, in caravans and motorhomes, for private and commercial use.
• It is installed directly in the low pressure pipe, downstream of the regulator.
• The valve is not suitable for outdoor use. Fit it inside the vehicle, for example in a cabinet or a furniture panel.
• The bracket with fixing holes lets you screw the valve securely in place.
• For installation in a caravan or motorhome, EN 1949 applies, and in Germany also DVGW worksheet G 607.

Installation

• Installation, start-up and maintenance of the gas system should be carried out by a specialist company.
• Observe the flow direction marked with an arrow on the body.
• When tightening the fitting, always brace against the connection nozzle with a spanner. Do not use pliers or other unsuitable tools.
• After the connections are tightened, do not turn the valve any more, as this may cause a leak. Tighten connections only when the system is not pressurised.
• Before start-up, check the connections for leaks with a foaming agent to EN 14291, never with an open flame. Do not use agents containing ammonia, as it attacks brass.

Use

• Before each connection and disconnection, inspect the SKU coupler and the STN plug. Remove dirt and replace damaged parts.
• Insert the STN plug of the hose into the coupler, turn the grip 90° to the open position and start the appliance.
• When you have finished, close the valve and only then release the plug.
• Only connect hoses with a standardised STN plug to the coupler.
• Do not connect an external gas supply to the coupler. The valve is only for drawing gas from the vehicle system.
