Many Euro 5 and almost all Euro 6 vehicles are equipped with an intelligent alternator. In these vehicles, the function of 12 V isolation relays and D+ simulators is limited or no longer possible. To ensure that the on-board battery(ies) are charged, a charging booster or BCB must be installed.

After the engine has been switched off, the relay disconnects the starter battery from the on-board battery. The relay is controlled via the D+ signal from the alternator or the D+ simulator. Diode protection for the alternator is already integrated. Switching current (max. 70 A).
