The Highway Code (Art. 344 (Art. 142 Highway Code paragraph 4) imposes permanent speed limitations for “CAR TOWING TRAILER”.
Art. 54, paragraph 1, defines the maximum speed allowed: 70 km/h extra-urban roads; 80 km/h motorways.
On the rear of the trailers indicated in Article 142, paragraph 4, of the Code, retro-reflective material signs must be affixed in a clearly visible manner, showing the speed limits in numbers prescribed.

Each sign must comply with the regulations and meet the following characteristics: dimensions and colours: support materials: aluminium or adhesive film; retroreflective material: high-efficiency film (class 2).

The sign indicating the 70 km/h limit must be positioned on the rear left part of the trailer, the sign indicating the 80 km/h limit must be positioned on the rear right part of the trailer.

The signs referred to in this article must conform to the type approved, on the basis of the aforementioned characteristics, by the Ministry of Transport and Navigation.

Each sign must visibly bear the approval mark according to the type determined by the Ministry of Transport and Navigation.
