The TROBOLO urine diverter is the heart of every composting toilet. This grey polypropylene insert separates urine from solids right in the bowl, so both go into separate containers and are easy to dispose of. The set also includes a handmade wooden seat with lid, giving you everything for building your own toilet in a camper, cabin or garden.

How the urine diverter works
You use the toilet just like a conventional one. Urine is collected in the front part of the insert and drains into a separate liquids container, an external tank or a pipe. Solids pass without contact through the rear opening into a container lined with an inlay that you lift out and dispose of or compost. The deep-drawn collar of the rear opening protects the inside of the toilet from soiling.
The TROBOLO adapter system
The part that wears most is the filter sieve, as deposits build up on it over time. With the TROBOLO diverter you only replace the adapter, while the rest of the insert keeps working. The hose connector adapter takes a DN32 hose, so urine can go, for example, into the grey water tank of a motorhome. The integrated seal keeps every connection tight, and the sieve holds back paper and litter so the drain does not clog.
Fitting it in your own toilet
A cutting template is included for marking the opening in the lid of your box or cabinet. The inner opening of the insert is 310 x 240 mm, and the diverter itself measures 170 x 375 x 322 mm. The included wooden seat with lid, 55 x 404 x 330 mm, mounts on top. It is handmade from 12 mm alder and birch plywood with stainless steel hinges.

Cleaning and maintenance
The smooth polypropylene surface only needs regular wiping. The manufacturer recommends removing deposits in the urine section with a citric acid solution, as described in the enclosed care instructions. The sieve and seal can be replaced when worn without replacing the whole insert.
