Elgena 3 bar safety valve set for Nautic heaters - 3 bar valve, 1/2" T-piece and ball drain valve, brass
- Elgena safety valve set: 3 bar valve, 1/2" female T-piece and 1/2" male ball drain valve, all brass. Mandatory when a Nautic water heater is connected to a pressure pump.
The Elgena safety valve set protects a pressure-resistant Nautic water heater from overpressure. Water expands as it heats up, and in a closed system with a pressure pump the pressure in the tank rises. The 3 bar safety valve then releases the excess water and keeps the heater from being damaged. The manufacturer requires a safety valve whenever the heater is connected to a pressure pump. The set also contains a T-piece and a ball drain valve, which lets you drain the heater completely before winter. All parts are made of brass.

What is in the set
- 3 bar safety valve
- 1/2" T-piece with female thread
- 1/2" ball drain valve with male thread
- material: brass
- for pressure-resistant Elgena Nautic heaters
- does not fit the low-pressure KB 3 and KB 6
When the valve is mandatory
The Nautic Compact, Nautic Compact Luft and Nautic Therm heaters work at up to 3 bar and are used with a pressure pump. In such a system a safety valve is mandatory. If the cold water pressure is above 2 bar, also fit a pressure reducer between the pump and the heater, set to max. 2 bar. Fit only the original 3 bar safety valve on the heater.
Installation
- the set is fitted on the water drain of the heater
- the safety valve must never be blocked or capped
- on the Nautic Therm the valve is fitted to the side or angled upwards, with the outlet pointing down
- you can connect a hose to the valve outlet leading outside or to a tank, so overpressure water can drain freely
- the hose must not be kinked or closed
- use pressure-resistant hoses for the water connections, secured with stainless hose clamps
Draining the heater in winter
A Nautic heater is built so that it does not run empty in normal use. Complete draining is only possible through the drain valve. Always disconnect the power before draining, because switching on the element without water trips the temperature fuse. Open the drain valve and leave it open all winter. If the water does not run out, open the taps so air gets into the lines.
When to replace the set
The set is needed when installing a Nautic heater without a valve, when switching from a submersible to a pressure pump, and when replacing a worn or leaking valve. If the safety valve keeps letting water through, first check the system pressure and the setting of the pressure reducer.

Frequently asked questions
Can I cap the valve outlet?
No. The valve must never be blocked, and the drain hose must not be kinked or closed.
Does it fit the KB 3 or KB 6?
No. The KB 3 and KB 6 are low-pressure heaters and do not use this set.
Where is the set fitted?
On the water drain of the Nautic heater.
What if the water pressure is above 2 bar?
Fit a pressure reducer between the pump and the heater, set to max. 2 bar.
