Alugas TravelMate 27.2 l (11 kg) aluminium LPG cylinder with external DISH M10 filling connection, 1.5 m hose and adapters - motorhome set
The Alugas TravelMate 27.2 l (11 kg) is an aluminium LPG cylinder for permanent installation in the gas locker of a motorhome or caravan. The multivalve has separate connections for filling and gas withdrawal, a level gauge and a valve that stops filling automatically at 80%. Important: in Germany this cylinder must not be filled at filling stations - details below.

Lightweight aluminium cylinder
- water capacity: 27.2 l
- gas content: approx. 11.4 kg propane
- tare with valve: 6.6 kg
- diameter: 300 mm
- height to collar: approx. 600 mm
The cylinder is made of an aluminium alloy that resists corrosion and sea water. According to the manufacturer, aluminium conducts heat better than steel, so the valves ice up less at high gas withdrawal, also in winter.

Installation in motorhomes and caravans
The manufacturer recommends installation by a specialist workshop in line with EN 1949. The DVGW G 607 code of practice (June 2026 edition) requires, among other things:
- fixing the cylinder in the gas locker with a sealed mounting
- a safety coupling in the filling line between the cylinder and the filling connection
- the filling connection on the outside of the vehicle, at least 500 mm from windows, vents and exhaust outlets
- the filling hose routed outside the living area
The manufacturer prohibits filling the cylinder when removed from the vehicle, filling directly at the cylinder, and using it as a loose cylinder outside the gas locker.

Multivalve
- filling valve with automatic 80% stop and non-return valve
- mechanical level gauge
- manual shut-off valve (blue tap)
- gas outlet KLF G.12, thread W21.8 x 1/14 LH
- safety valve 27 bar
- gas withdrawal from the vapour phase
A remote level display inside the vehicle can be added.
Filling - not at filling stations in Germany
The Alugas TravelMate is a CE-marked pressure vessel classified in Germany as a Tankflasche (Druckbehälter zur Selbstbefüllung). According to the summary by the German LPG association Deutscher Verband Flüssiggas e.V. "Tankflaschen in Wohnfahrzeugen - Neue Regelungen in der DVGW G 607 (Ausgabe Juni 2026)", such cylinders must not be filled at filling stations in Germany:
- the ban applies to private persons and to station staff
- it also applies to cylinders permanently installed in the vehicle
- it applies whether gas is taken from the liquid or the vapour phase
- the legal basis is the binding TRBS 3151 / TRGS 751
The DVGW G 607 code of practice (June 2026 edition) only covers how such cylinders are installed, not filling at stations. According to DVFG, rules for filling at stations are being prepared. Ask an authorised ALUGAS partner or your installer how the cylinder can be filled in line with the regulations.
Alugas TravelMate vs GasBank 11 kg
- Alugas TravelMate 27.2 l (11 kg): aluminium, capacity 27.2 l (80%: 21.76 l), tare 6.6 kg, height approx. 600 mm, diameter 300 mm, separate filling and withdrawal connections, level gauge.
- GasBank MULTI 11 kg: composite, capacity 24.4 l (80%: 19.52 l), tare 5.65 kg, height 583 mm, diameter 310 mm, separate inlet and outlet, level gauge.
- GasBank SINGLE 11 kg: composite, capacity 24.4 l (80%: 19.52 l), tare 5.55 kg, height 583 mm, diameter 310 mm, one G.12 connection for filling and withdrawal.
The TravelMate holds more gas and has a smaller diameter; the GasBank cylinders are lighter and lower.

Questions and answers
How much gas does the cylinder hold?
The water capacity is 27.2 l. The filling valve stops automatically at 80%. The manufacturer states a fill weight of approx. 11.4 kg propane and recommends not filling more than 21.5 l LPG at a time.
Can the cylinder be filled at an LPG filling station?
Not in Germany. According to the DVFG summary on DVGW G 607 (June 2026 edition), such cylinders must not be filled at filling stations in Germany - even when permanently installed in the vehicle. The legal basis is TRBS 3151 / TRGS 751.
Can I use it as a normal gas bottle, e.g. for a garden barbecue?
No. The manufacturer intends it for use in the vehicle gas locker (EN 1949). Using it as a loose cylinder outside the gas locker is not permitted according to the manual.
What gas outlet does it have?
KLF G.12 with thread W21.8 x 1/14 LH - the blue-tap version intended for Germany.
How often must the cylinder be inspected?
Every 10 years. It is not an exchange cylinder, so the vehicle owner arranges the inspection.
Which gas may be filled?
Only LPG (propane, butane and their mixtures). Never CNG - natural gas is stored at around 200 bar.
