Opis produktu

The BlueCraft spark plug with cable is an original spare part for the BlueCraft gas stool burner. It is the ignition electrode that sits next to the burner and turns the pulse from the piezo igniter into a spark that lights the gas. It consists of a metal electrode with a bent tip, a white ceramic insulator, a threaded sleeve with two nuts for mounting, and a black lead with a connector at the end. A new spark plug is what you need when there is no spark at the burner after pressing the igniter button, when the ceramic is cracked or when the lead is damaged. The part is 19.4 cm long.

BlueCraft spark plug with cable for gas stool burner - metal electrode with bent tip, white ceramic insulator, threaded sleeve with two nuts and black lead with connector

Key features

  • original spare part for the BlueCraft gas stool burner
  • ignition electrode with lead to the piezo igniter
  • metal electrode with bent tip
  • ceramic insulator
  • threaded sleeve with two nuts for mounting next to the burner
  • black lead with connector
  • length 19.4 cm, cross-section 1.5 x 1.5 cm
  • contents: 1 spark plug with cable

How the spark plug works

When you press the button, the piezo igniter produces a short high-voltage pulse. The spark plug lead carries it to the electrode next to the burner. At the electrode tip a spark jumps to a metal part of the burner and lights the gas that is flowing out of the burner holes at that moment. The ceramic insulator separates the electrode from the mounting and the burner frame, so the spark forms only where it should. The spark plug needs no battery or power supply, all the energy comes from the piezo igniter.

When to replace the spark plug

  • You hear a click when you press the igniter button, but you see no spark at the burner.
  • The spark jumps somewhere else, for example to the burner frame, instead of to the burner.
  • The ceramic insulator is cracked, chipped or so sooty that the current leaks along its surface.
  • The lead is chafed, melted or broken, or the connector no longer holds in the igniter.
  • The electrode tip is heavily corroded, burnt or bent far away from the burner.

What to check before replacing it

  • Whether the piezo igniter clicks at all. If the button gives no resistance and does not click, it is the igniter rather than the spark plug that needs replacing.
  • Whether the lead connector is pushed firmly into the igniter.
  • Whether the electrode tip is covered with soot, grease or food residue. Clean it gently with a dry cloth or a soft brush.
  • Whether the electrode is bent. If it is too far from the burner, the spark may be too weak to jump.
  • Whether the electrode and burner are dry. After boiling over, wait until everything has dried.
  • In a darker place press the button and watch where the spark forms. This quickly shows whether the current leaks through cracked ceramic or a damaged lead.

Replacement step by step

  • Close the cylinder valve, disconnect the regulator and wait until the burner has cooled down completely.
  • Take a photo of the old spark plug so you remember where the electrode tip sits in relation to the burner and how the lead runs.
  • Pull the lead connector off the piezo igniter.
  • Unscrew the nut on the threaded sleeve and take the old spark plug out of its holder.
  • Put the new spark plug into the holder and set it so that the electrode tip is in the same place and at the same distance from the burner as before.
  • Tighten the nuts carefully. Overtightening can crack the ceramic.
  • Route the lead away from the flame and hot parts, without sharp bends, and push its connector onto the igniter.
  • Before connecting the gas, press the igniter button a few times and check that the spark jumps to the burner.
  • Reconnect the regulator, open the cylinder and light the burner as usual.

Things to watch out for

  • Do not touch the electrode or the lead while pressing the igniter button. The pulse is not dangerous, but it is unpleasant.
  • Do not bend the electrode near the ceramic, as the insulator cracks easily.
  • Do not clean the spark plug with a pressure washer and do not leave it wet. Moisture around the ceramic weakens the spark.
  • If there is still no spark after replacing the spark plug, check the piezo igniter and its connection to the lead.
  • Replace the spark plug only with the cylinder closed and the burner cold.

Care

After each use, once the burner has cooled down, remove food residue and boiled-over water from around the burner. Soot and burnt grease on the electrode tip and on the ceramic weaken the spark. Store the burner in a dry place so that the electrode tip does not corrode, and take care when carrying it so you do not catch the lead. Once a season check that the electrode is still in its place next to the burner and that the nuts are tight.

Frequently asked questions

Which burner does this spark plug fit?

It is a spare part for the BlueCraft gas stool burner. For any other burner, order it only after comparing the length, sleeve and lead connector with your old spark plug.

The igniter clicks, but the burner does not light. What should I replace?

First clean and dry the electrode tip and check that it is close to the burner. If there is still no spark or it jumps somewhere else, replace the spark plug. If the button does not click, replace the piezo igniter.

Can I replace it myself?

Yes, all you need is a spanner that fits the sleeve nuts. Work with the cylinder closed and the burner cold, and before connecting the gas check that the spark jumps to the burner.

Can I light the burner without a working spark plug?

You can light it from the side with a long lighter, keeping your hand away from the burner, but it is more convenient and safer to replace the spark plug.
