Campingaz C 206 GLS Super pierceable gas cartridge 190 g - butane/propane 80/20, Gas Lock System, for 206 series stoves
- Campingaz C 206 GLS Super pierceable cartridge with 190 g of butane and propane mixed 80/20. It has a Gas Lock System compliant with EN 417:2012 and fits Campingaz 206 series appliances.
The blue Campingaz C 206 cartridge is one of the best known camping cartridges in Europe. It powers the classic single-burner Campingaz 206 series stoves, which people have been using for years to boil water for coffee at the campsite, in a camper without a gas kitchen or at the allotment. The C 206 GLS Super version contains 190 g of butane and propane in an 80/20 ratio and has a built-in Gas Lock System. It is a pierceable cartridge: it has no valve and no thread, and the appliance pierces its top when you fit it. This makes the cartridge simple and inexpensive, but there is one rule to remember: once fitted, it stays in the appliance until it is completely empty. The Gas Lock System limits the gas flow if the cartridge is accidentally disconnected from the appliance, which is why the cartridge complies with EN 417:2012. Below you will find the technical data, how it works, tips on fitting and safe storage, and a list of the appliances it works with.

What a pierceable cartridge means
Camping cartridges come in two groups: valve cartridges and pierceable cartridges. A valve cartridge can be unscrewed from the stove at any time. A pierceable cartridge such as the C 206 GLS has a closed, smooth top. When you insert it into a 206 series appliance and close the housing, a needle pierces the top and a seal in the appliance closes the connection. From that moment the cartridge and the appliance form one unit. The cartridge may only be removed when it is completely empty. It is a simple design that works well for longer use of one stove or lamp.
How the Gas Lock System works
- The Gas Lock System, GLS for short, is a flow limiting system built into the cartridge.
- If the cartridge is accidentally disconnected from the appliance, the system keeps most of the remaining gas inside.
- This prevents a sudden release of gas and flare-ups.
- Cartridges with this system comply with EN 417:2012 for non-refillable cartridges without a valve.
- GLS does not change how you use it: the cartridge is still removed from the appliance only when empty.
Gas mixture
- The cartridge contains 190 g of liquefied gas: 80 percent butane and 20 percent propane.
- Butane gives a stable flame on warm days, and the added propane helps the gas vaporise at cooler temperatures.
- Butane vaporises poorly at temperatures close to 0 °C, so on cold mornings the flame can be smaller than in summer.
- A cartridge kept warm, for example in the cab, works better than one taken from a cold locker.
Which appliances it fits
- The cartridge is designed for Campingaz appliances for pierceable 206 series cartridges.
- It fits the Campingaz Camping 206 S stove and Bleuet stoves designed for C 206 cartridges.
- It also fits other Campingaz appliances designed for C 206 pierceable cartridges, such as lamps.
- Before buying, compare the cartridge type with the manual or rating plate of your appliance.
- The cartridge does not fit appliances with a connection for valve cartridges, such as CV or CP systems.
How to fit the cartridge
- Fit the cartridge outdoors or in a well ventilated place, away from flames, sparks and other ignition sources.
- Check that the seal in the appliance is in place and undamaged.
- Make sure the control knob of the appliance is closed.
- Insert the cartridge into the housing as described in the appliance manual and close it fully, so the needle pierces the top.
- If you smell gas or hear hissing, do not light the appliance and move it into the open air.
Safety
- The gas in the cartridge is extremely flammable.
- Keep the cartridge out of the reach of children.
- Keep it away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. Do not smoke nearby.
- In case of a leak, remove all ignition sources.
- Do not extinguish a leaking gas fire unless the leak can be stopped safely.
- Store cartridges in a well ventilated place.
Where it comes in handy
The C 206 GLS Super cartridge is useful wherever you need a simple source of fire without connecting to a gas system: at the campsite, on a trip in a camper or van without a built-in kitchen, on a sailing boat, at the allotment, at a festival and in a home emergency kit for power cuts. A 206 series stove with a cartridge takes up little space, and spare cartridges fit easily in a locker. Always cook outdoors or in a well ventilated place, on a level and stable surface.
Good to know
- The set contains one C 206 GLS Super cartridge with 190 g of gas.
- The cartridge is non-refillable.
- Dispose of the empty cartridge according to local waste sorting rules.
- You will find Campingaz valve cartridges below, but they fit different appliances than the 206 series.

Frequently asked questions
Can I remove the cartridge from the stove before it is empty?
No. It is a pierceable cartridge, so once fitted it stays in the appliance until it is completely empty. If you want to remove the cartridge after every use, you need an appliance for valve cartridges.
Which stoves does this cartridge fit?
Campingaz appliances for pierceable 206 series cartridges, for example the Camping 206 S stove and Bleuet stoves designed for C 206 cartridges. It does not fit appliances for CV or CP valve cartridges.
What does the Gas Lock System do?
If the cartridge is accidentally disconnected from the appliance, the system keeps most of the remaining gas in the cartridge. This is why the cartridge complies with EN 417:2012.
Does the cartridge work on cold days?
The 20 percent propane improves performance in the cold, but at temperatures close to 0 °C the flame is weaker. Keeping the cartridge warm before use helps.
