The Desolyt Classic (UD12) is a flow-through UV-C LED water disinfection unit for permanent installation in motorhomes, caravans and boats. Water drawn from the tank flows through the UV unit, where UV-C light inactivates any germs. No chemicals are added and the water keeps its taste and smell. The LEDs only switch on while the pump is running, so the unit draws no current at rest. It is designed and made in Germany.
How it works

Control unit
- supplies the LEDs with regulated 12 V regardless of the on-board voltage

Installation
- the UV unit goes straight after the tank, before the first branch and before the water heater
- flow must run vertically from bottom to top, horizontal installation is not allowed
- with a pressure pump, the UV unit goes in the suction line of the pump
- the control unit can be mounted in any position with 4 screws
- water connections: 3/8 inch / 9/10 mm, 12/13 mm or Uniquick - installation kit ordered separately
Pumps and power
- for submersible pumps and pressure pumps with a simple pressure switch
- not for electronically controlled pressure pumps - the manufacturer recommends the Desolyt Compact for these
- needs a stable 10-16 V DC supply from a battery
- does not work properly on unregulated mains adapters, e.g. in caravans without a 12 V battery
Care and winter
- the unit only disinfects water flowing through it, so the manufacturer recommends regular tank cleaning and descaling at least once a year
- suspended particles and cloudy water reduce the UV-C effect - above 1 NTU a pre-filter is needed, ideally when filling the tank
- the unit is not frost-proof when filled with water
- after fully draining the system it can stay in the vehicle over winter (down to -25°C)
- maintenance-free, LED service life 5000 hours, unlimited switch-on cycles

Questions and answers
Does the Desolyt Classic fit every pump?
It fits submersible pumps and pressure pumps with a simple pressure switch. For electronically controlled pumps the manufacturer recommends the Desolyt Compact.
Is the water drinkable after disinfection?
The unit reduces E. coli by up to 99.999% at 2.2 l/min. The manufacturer intends it for tap water of drinking quality and recommends regular tank cleaning, because water in the tank is not disinfected.
Does a lamp need replacing?
No. The UV-C LEDs last at least 5000 hours with unlimited switch-on cycles.
Can it stay in the vehicle over winter?
Yes, but only after the system is fully drained. Filled with water it is not frost-proof.
Is the installation kit included?
No. The Standard kit (9/10 and 12/13 mm hoses) or the Uniquick kit is ordered separately.
Can I run it from a mains adapter?
Only from a stable 10-16 V DC supply, e.g. a battery. An unregulated adapter causes malfunctions.
