The black Dometic LS 200 is the lower fridge ventilation grille fitted in the outer wall of a motorhome or caravan. Cool air enters behind the fridge through the lower grille, and warm air leaves through the upper one. This stops heat from building up behind the fridge, which would reduce cooling and raise energy use. With the grille removed you can reach the back of the fridge, for example to clean the burner, without taking the fridge out. According to Dometic, single-door fridges need the LS 100 at the top and the LS 200 at the bottom.

How fridge ventilation works
- an absorption fridge releases heat through the cooling unit at the back
- the lower grille brings cool outside air to the back of the fridge
- warm air rises and leaves through the upper grille
- free airflow improves cooling, especially on hot days
- on gas fridges the grilles also carry heat away from the burner area
Winter cover
- in cold weather fit the cover over the grille
- the cover limits very cold air reaching the cooling unit
- remove the cover on warm days so the fridge can release heat
- spare winter covers are available separately
Installation and service
- the grille is fitted in the outer vehicle wall, in an opening next to the fridge

- seal the frame so that water cannot get into the wall
