Dometic PerfectView CAM 440 (catalogue number 9620006604) is a compact dual-view ball camera about 36 mm in diameter. What it is for
CAM 440 shows the zone right behind the vehicle when you manoeuvre and a zoomed far view to watch traffic behind. With a bike rack or tail lift, the close view helps you judge the blind spot under the obstacle.
The camera is intended for vehicles. In practice it is fitted on motorhomes, camper vans, caravans or trucks when you need a permanent view of the rear.
The image travels by cable to a colour monitor in AHD or CVBS (PAL). Switching close and far view without selecting reverse needs the separate CAM 440CS switch.
Installation notes
- Fit the ball camera on the rear wall or crossmember as described in the manual, with cables and mounts concealed.
- Route the 20 m system cable (and the 5 m extension if needed) to the cab so it cannot chafe on sharp edges or foul moving parts.
- Connect the Y-adapters to the camera and monitor as shown. Set AHD or CVBS to match the monitor.
- Supply 12/24 V DC within 10-32 V. Power consumption is max. 2 W.
- If you plan a second camera or view switching outside reverse, leave space for CAM 440E and CAM 440CS.

CAM 440 versus other PerfectView cameras
CAM 440 combines close view and far zoom in one compact ball. CAM 440E is the same optics as an add-on module for the CAM 440 harness. If you need two separate lenses in a larger housing, CAM44 is in the range. For Ducato X250/X290 there is the CAM 35 2.0 brake-light console series.
Safe use
- A rear-view system is only an aid. It does not replace careful reversing or mirror checks.
- Operating temperature: -30 to +70°C.
- The housing is IP69K, but seal mounting holes only as the manual describes.
- ECE-R10 approval and ISO 16750 / ISO 20653 tests cover the device; road-traffic rules still apply.
Care
Wipe the lens with a soft, damp cloth without aggressive solvents. Keep connectors dry and clean. After washing the vehicle, check the mounting seal. For long idle periods, isolate the supply as described for your vehicle.

FAQ
Does CAM 440 have two lenses?
No. It has one dual-view lens: a close view and a zoomed far view. Switching outside reverse needs CAM 440CS.
What is CAM 440E?
An add-on camera with the same dual-view function. You connect it to the prepared CAM 440 harness, for example lower under a bike rack or on the side.
What power supply is required?
