Opis produktu

This external diesel filler goes into the body wall of a motorhome, caravan or van conversion, so you can fill a diesel tank directly from outside. On the wall you see a rectangular frame with a white flap that lifts upwards and stays closed thanks to magnets. Under the flap there is a black two-spoke cap with a FAP New System lock cylinder, and the keys come in the box. At the back of the filler there is a spigot for a 50 mm hose leading to the tank. For mounting you cut a round 91 mm hole in the wall. The white flap suits light-coloured bodywork, and for darker vehicles there is a version with a grey flap.

Key features

  • external filler for a diesel tank
  • mounts in the body wall of a motorhome, caravan or van
  • white hinged flap with magnetic closure
  • black two-spoke cap that is easy to grip
  • FAP New System lock cylinder and keys included
  • mounting hole 91 mm
  • hose connection 50 mm
  • black frame with screw holes in the corners

What it is for

The filler is useful wherever diesel has to go into a tank that sits inside the conversion rather than through the vehicle's original filler neck. Most often this is a separate fuel tank for a diesel parking heater or another diesel-powered appliance, fitted in a locker, under the floor or in the rear garage of a motorhome. With a filler on the outside wall you do not need to open the locker or carry a jerry can into the vehicle. You fill up from outside and the fuel runs through the hose straight into the tank. The filler also works well in workshop vans and trailers with a diesel tank hidden inside.

Flap and cap

  • The flap is hinged at the top of the frame. You lift it up, and when you let go it falls back into place, where magnets hold it, so no latch is needed.
  • The flap protects the cap from rain, dust and mud thrown up by the wheels, and from outside you only see a smooth white surface.
  • The cap has two spokes, so you can grip it firmly even with gloves on.
  • The cap holds a FAP New System lock cylinder. Once you turn the key, the cap cannot be unscrewed, so nobody can get at your fuel or pour something else into the tank.
  • Spare keys, a new cylinder with keys and a cylinder extraction key are available separately for the FAP New System.

Installation step by step

  • Choose a spot on the wall above the tank, or one where the hose can run down to the tank without loops or uphill sections.
  • Check from the inside that there are no cables, pipes or structural parts of the wall behind the chosen spot.
  • Cut a round 91 mm hole in the wall, ideally with a hole saw, and remove any burrs.
  • Apply a sealant suitable for motorhome bodywork to the back of the frame, insert the filler into the hole and screw the frame on through the holes in the corners.
  • Push a fuel hose with a 50 mm inner diameter onto the spigot and secure it with a hose clamp. Connect the other end to the filler neck of the tank.
  • Make sure the tank is vented as described in its instructions, so air can escape while you fill up.
  • After installation pour in a small amount of fuel and check from the inside that nothing leaks at the spigot or at the tank.

Filling up

  • Lift the white flap.
  • Insert the key, unlock the cap and unscrew it.
  • Pour the diesel in steadily, from a jerry can with a funnel or with the pump nozzle, and watch that the fuel runs down without backing up.
  • Screw the cap back on, turn the key to lock it and remove the key.
  • Lower the flap until the magnets hold it and wipe any drops of fuel off the frame.

What to check before you buy

  • Measure the space on the wall. You need a 91 mm hole and a flat surface around it for the frame to sit on.
  • Check the hose of your tank. The filler connection has a diameter of 50 mm and is designed for a hose of that size.
  • Plan the hose route from the filler to the tank so that the fuel flows down by gravity.
  • Match the flap colour to your bodywork. This version has a white flap, and our shop also has a grey flap and versions without a locking cap.

Care

Wipe the frame and flap with a damp cloth from time to time, especially after driving on muddy roads and after winter, when road salt settles on the bodywork. Wipe off any fuel spilled while filling straight away so dust does not stick to it. If the lock turns stiffly, clean sand and dust out of the cylinder before using force. Keep the keys in a fixed place in the vehicle, and the spare key preferably outside it.

Frequently asked questions

What hole do I need to cut in the wall?

A round hole with a diameter of 91 mm. The filler frame covers the edge of the hole and you screw it to the wall.

Which hose fits the filler?

A fuel hose with a diameter of 50 mm, secured with a hose clamp on the spigot at the back of the filler.

Are the keys included?

Yes. The cap has a FAP New System lock cylinder and the keys come with the filler.

How does the flap stay closed?

Magnets hold it. Just lower it and it pulls itself against the frame.

Can I buy spare keys?

Yes. Key pairs, a cylinder with keys and a cylinder extraction key are available separately for the FAP New System.

Can I use the filler for water?

This filler is designed for diesel. For a fresh water tank choose a water filler, so you never mix them up when filling.
