Megasat Camping Case LNB + Cable - Portable Satellite Kit in a Carry Case, 41 x 38 cm Dish, Single LNB, 10 m Cable and Triple Suction Mount for Motorhomes
- Portable Megasat satellite kit in a plastic carry case: 41 x 38 cm steel dish, single LNB, 10 m coaxial cable, triple suction mount and mast bracket. Weight 3.89 kg. The receiver is sold separately.
The Megasat Camping Case in the LNB + cable version is a complete satellite dish for travelling, packed in a rigid plastic carry case. Inside you find a 41 x 38 cm steel dish, a single LNB, a 10 m coaxial cable with F connectors, a triple suction mount, a mast bracket and small mounting parts. The case measures 450 x 470 x 120 mm and the whole kit weighs 3.89 kg, so it fits into a motorhome locker, a car boot or behind a seat in a caravan. The kit has no receiver of its own. You connect it to the satellite receiver you already have in your vehicle or to a TV with a built-in satellite tuner.

What you find in the case

A case that protects the dish on the road
The case is made of tough, impact-resistant plastic. Inside it holds the dish, the LNB, the coiled cable and the suction mount. You carry the case like normal luggage. With a thickness of only 12 cm it slides under a bed, behind a seat or into an underfloor locker of a motorhome.
41 x 38 cm dish and single LNB
The dish measures 41 x 38 cm and is made of steel. A single LNB has one output, so it serves one satellite receiver. The LNB is powered by the receiver through the coaxial cable, which means the dish itself needs no separate 12 V or 230 V supply. At the edge of a satellite footprint or in heavy rain, a smaller dish receives a weaker signal than a large fixed antenna, so keep this in mind when you plan a trip far to the south or north of Europe.

Dish on a stand, clamp or mast
You push the dish with its LNB arm into the base support from above and tighten it with a screw. The base support can be combined with the plastic base and the U-bolt. This way you clamp the dish to the edge of a table, to a railing or to a pipe, and you tighten the wing nuts by hand, without a spanner.
The same U-bolt and base also fit an existing mast or the leg of a camping table. Wrap the supplied anti-slip strip around the mast first, so the dish does not turn in the wind.

Triple suction mount for smooth surfaces
The suction mount has three suction pads joined by a frame. You push the dish into the socket of the mount from above and lock it with a screw. Then you place the mount on a smooth surface, for example a painted roof, a car bonnet, a window or a table top, and tighten the screw of each pad clockwise.
Three contact points hold the dish firmly even if the surface is not perfectly level. The surface should be clean, dry and free of scratches, because dust and sand reduce the grip. The suction mount is for use when parked, so take the dish down and pack it before you drive off.
How to align the dish
TV satellites for Europe, such as Astra 19.2 E or Hot Bird 13 E, are positioned above the equator, so you point the dish roughly south. Before you start, check the azimuth and elevation angle for your pitch and satellite in an app or a table. There must be no trees, buildings or other vehicles between the dish and the southern sky. Turn the dish slowly horizontally, then tilt it vertically while you watch the signal strength and quality bars in the receiver menu. When the signal is strongest, tighten the screws and run a channel search on the receiver.
What you need in addition
- a DVB-S or DVB-S2 satellite receiver that powers the LNB through the coaxial cable
- a TV, or a TV with a built-in satellite tuner, in which case no separate receiver is needed
- power for the receiver and TV from the 12 V system of the vehicle or from a 230 V hook-up on the campsite
- an F coupler if you want to extend the cable with a second length
Where the kit is useful
The manufacturer designed the case for motorhomes, caravans and campsites. The kit is useful in a vehicle without a roof satellite dish, in a camper van where you do not want to drill the roof, and as a spare dish when the roof antenna cannot see the satellite because trees are in the way. With the 10 m cable you can place the dish several metres away from the vehicle, in a spot with a clear view to the south.
Three versions of the Megasat case
The standard version contains the dish and mounting parts, but no LNB and no cable. This version, LNB + cable, adds a single LNB, a 10 m cable and F connectors, so you only need to connect it to a receiver. The HD version contains the same kit plus an HD satellite receiver with a 12 V car socket cable.

Frequently asked questions
Is a satellite receiver included?
No. The LNB + cable version contains the dish, LNB, cable and mounting parts. You need a satellite receiver or a TV with a built-in satellite tuner. The kit with a receiver is the HD version.
How many receivers can I connect to this dish?
One. The single LNB has one output, so it serves one receiver or one TV with a satellite tuner.
Does the dish need a power supply?
The dish itself does not. The LNB is powered by the receiver through the coaxial cable. Only the receiver and the TV need 12 V or 230 V power.
