Thetford C223-CS cassette toilet, C220 series - white built-in motorhome toilet with swivel bowl, console, electric flush and 18 l waste tank on wheels
- Thetford C223-CS cassette toilet from the C220 series for fitting in a motorhome or caravan. It has a swivel bowl, a console with an electric flush button, a level indicator and an 18 l waste tank on wheels.
The Thetford C223-CS is a permanently installed cassette toilet from the C220 series for motorhomes, caravans and vans. It has two parts: the toilet fixed in the bathroom and a removable 18 l waste-holding tank that you take out from outside through a service door in the vehicle wall. The seat is 492 mm high, similar to a toilet at home. The bowl swivels, so in a small bathroom you can turn it to the position that suits you. The CS model has a console at the back that covers the connections, with the flush button on top. Flush water comes from the vehicle water system, so this version has no flush-water tank of its own. The waste tank has wheels and a pull-out handle, so you pull it to the disposal point like a suitcase.

Who this toilet is for
The C223-CS suits people who build a motorhome or replace an old cassette toilet and have a water system with a pump in the vehicle. The toilet uses the same water as the tap, so there is no separate flush tank to fill. If there is no central water tank in the vehicle, or you want the toilet to work independently of it, the C224-CW with its own 9 l flush-water tank is the better choice. You will find a link to it below.
How to use the toilet
- Turning the bowl: close the cover and turn the bowl with both hands to the position you want. The manual gives a maximum of 90 degrees clockwise and 170 degrees anticlockwise.
- Opening the blade: move the blade handle under the bowl from left to right. You can use the toilet with the blade open or closed.
- Flushing: with the blade open, press the flush button and hold it for a few seconds. The flush works better if you press the button several times in a row.
- Close the blade after flushing. Do not leave water in the bowl while driving.
- The toilet can take a load of up to 120 kg.
Emptying the waste tank
When the indicator window on the base of the toilet changes from green to red, the tank is full. Open the service door, take out the tank, extend the handle and pull the tank to the disposal point. Stand it upright, turn the spout, remove the cap and empty the tank while holding the vent button down with your thumb, so the contents pour out without splashing. Finally rinse the tank with a few litres of water. Before using it again, pour the additive in the dose given on the pack and about 2 to 3 l of water through the spout so that the bottom is covered. Do not drive with the tank more than three quarters full.
Installation
- The toilet needs a Thetford service door 3 in the vehicle wall. The door can be fitted portrait or landscape and is sold separately.
- The C223-CS connects to the vehicle water system, and the electric flush to the electrical system.
- A water fill door is not needed, as this version has no flush-water tank of its own.

Console and flush button
The C223-CS console has a flat top with the flush button. The blade handle is under the bowl and the level indicator window is on the base, so everything you need every day is in one place. You take the waste tank out from outside and do not have to carry it through the vehicle.
