Thetford C224-CW cassette toilet, C220 series - white built-in motorhome toilet with swivel bowl, own 9 l flush-water tank, manual flush and 18 l waste tank on wheels
- Thetford C224-CW cassette toilet from the C220 series for fitting in a motorhome or caravan. It has a swivel bowl, its own 9 l flush-water tank in the console, a manual flush, a level indicator and an 18 l tank on wheels.
The Thetford C224-CW is a permanently installed cassette toilet from the C220 series that does not need a connection to the vehicle water system. The tall console at the back holds its own 9 l flush-water tank, which you fill from outside through a water fill door. You flush by hand, moving the lever on the console up and down. Under the toilet there is a removable 18 l waste-holding tank that you take out from outside through a service door. It has wheels and a pull-out handle, so you pull it to the disposal point like a suitcase. The seat is 492 mm high and the bowl swivels, so in a small bathroom you can turn it to the position that suits you. It is a good choice for a motorhome or caravan without a central water tank, or when you want the toilet to work independently of the pump and water system.

How to use the toilet
- Before first use, pour the flush-water additive in the dose given on the pack through the water fill door, then fill the tank with clean water from a jerrycan or hose.
- Turning the bowl: close the cover and turn the bowl with both hands to the position you want. The manual gives a maximum of 90 degrees clockwise and 170 degrees anticlockwise.
- Opening the blade: move the blade handle under the bowl from left to right. You can use the toilet with the blade open or closed.
- Flushing: with the blade open, move the flush lever on the console up and down. Close the blade after flushing.
- Do not leave water in the bowl while driving. The toilet can take a load of up to 120 kg.
Flush-water tank
The manufacturer recommends travelling with an empty flush-water tank, or at most half full, so that water does not spill into the vehicle. The tank is emptied through a drain tube: put a large enough container under it, open the tube and pour the water away at a disposal point. Empty it completely when you will not use the toilet for a longer time, and before winter in an unheated vehicle.
Emptying the waste tank
When the indicator window on the base of the toilet changes from green to red, the tank is full. Open the service door, take out the tank, extend the handle and pull it to the disposal point. Stand the tank upright, turn the spout, remove the cap and empty it while holding the vent button down with your thumb, so the contents pour out without splashing. Rinse the tank with a few litres of water. Before using it again, pour the additive and about 2 to 3 l of water through the spout. Do not drive with the tank more than three quarters full.
Installation
- The toilet needs a Thetford service door 3 in the vehicle wall, fitted portrait or landscape. The door is sold separately.
- To fill the flush-water tank you also need a water fill door, also sold separately.
- Installation should be done by a workshop or a person experienced in vehicle conversions, following the manufacturer installation manual.

Manual flush without a pump
The flush lever is on top of the console and the water comes from the built-in 9 l tank. You do not need a pump or pipes from the vehicle water system, and the toilet keeps working when the motorhome water tank is empty or drained for winter.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the C224-CW and the C223-CS?
The C224-CW has its own 9 l flush-water tank and a manual flush, so you do not connect it to the vehicle water system. The C223-CS flushes with water from the vehicle using an electric button.
Is the waste tank included?
Yes, the toilet comes with the removable 18 l waste tank on wheels. The service door and the water fill door are sold separately.
Which spare tank fits the C224-CW?
The Thetford C220 cassette tank fits. Choose the outside vent version only if the vehicle has the outside vent kit.
Can I use ordinary toilet paper?
Ordinary paper can block the tank. The manufacturer recommends fast-dissolving paper for cassette toilets.
