CampingStar Carbest Canister Heating Rod 12 V / 75 W - Water Heater with 38°C Thermostat
- CampingStar 12 V / 75 W heating rod for 10-15 l water canisters. The thermostat keeps the water at about 38°C. Lay it on the canister bottom and connect it to a 12 V supply.
The Carbest CampingStar heating rod heats domestic water in a canister of about 10-15 litres to about 38°C and keeps it there with its control thermostat. You lay the rod on the bottom of the canister and power it from the vehicle 12 V system. It is a simple way to get warm water for washing hands, dishes or a quick shower in a motorhome, van or at the campsite when there is no boiler on board. Made in Germany.

Key features
- 75 W output, 12 V supply
- thermostat holds the water at about 38°C
- for canisters and tanks of about 10-15 l
- rod length 25 cm, diameter 2.2 cm
- approx. 100 cm lead with two open ends (brown plus, blue minus)
- white Teflon ring improves water flow around the rod
How to use it
- fill the canister first - starting with warm water shortens the heating time
- lay the rod on the bottom of the canister, horizontally if possible
- only then connect the power
- the rod must always be fully under water, otherwise the thermostat cannot work and the rod overheats
- place the pump intake at least 10 cm above the rod so it never runs dry
- do not remove the Teflon ring
- take the rod out only when it is switched off and cool
- descale regularly, after disconnecting the power
12 V supply
- 12 V DC only - other voltages destroy the rod
- current draw about 8 A, so the manufacturer recommends using it while driving or with battery support when parked
- use 12 V plugs with screw terminals rated at least 10 A
- do not solder the wires, clamp or screw them - otherwise they may overheat
- brown is plus, blue is minus

How long it takes
75 W is a low output, so heating a full canister takes time. It depends on the canister insulation, the ambient temperature and the temperature of the water you fill in. If you start with warm water, the rod only has to hold the temperature and uses less energy.
