Carbest CozyWater 10 - 10 l Hot Water Boiler, 12 V 200 W, Stainless Steel

When 8 litres of hot water is not enough for a shower and washing up, Carbest CozyWater 10 gives you a 10 litre tank on the same 12 V / 200 W element. The stainless steel 304 tank, 25-75 °C thermostat dial and matte black metal housing are shared across the CozyWater series. Against the 8 l model the difference is capacity and body length: 400 mm instead of 350 mm.

What it is for

CozyWater 10 heats domestic water in a camper, caravan or boat installation. After you switch it on, the element in the insulated stainless steel 304 tank heats the water to the set temperature and switches off when that temperature is reached. A red indicator light shows when the element is heating. Compared with CozyWater 8 you get 2 litres more hot water on the same 12 V supply.

Installation

1. You can mount the boiler horizontally or vertically. In a vertical position the connections must point downwards.
2. Fix the unit on a sufficiently load-bearing surface with suitable fasteners. Water in the tank moves while you drive, so the mounting point and fasteners must support at least 60 kg.
3. Switch the boiler on only after it is fully installed, connected to the water system and filled with water.
4. Have installation and servicing done by a qualified technician, following the manual and the rules that apply where you use the vehicle.

Water connection

The cold and hot water ports have a 1/2 inch male thread. Screw the supplied safety valve onto the cold water inlet and seal the joint with PTFE tape or another approved sealant.

Lead the valve drain hose outside so water released under overpressure does not flood the locker. Check regularly that the hose is not blocked or damaged.

After installation, check every joint for tightness. Flush the system thoroughly with clean water before first use.

To fill the boiler: switch the unit off, close the safety valve (lever horizontal), open a hot water tap, start the pump or water supply and wait until water runs without air. Then close the tap.

12 V electrical connection

Protect the positive cable (12 V+) with a 30 A fuse and keep the run from the power source as short as possible. Size the cable cross-section for the current and length; at 30 A the minimum is 6 mm2.

To stop the battery discharging unintentionally, fit a switch and a relay rated for at least 30 A in the positive cable.

Connect only to a stabilised vehicle electrical system with a nominal 12 V DC voltage. Lay the cables permanently, resistant to vibration, and protect them from mechanical damage, heat and moisture.

The factory 12 V supply cable is 1.2 m long.

Operation

Make sure the boiler is connected to 12 V and filled with water.

Switch the unit on with the thermostat dial and set the temperature between 25 and 75 °C.

The red light is on while the element heats. Once the set temperature is reached, the element switches off by itself.

To empty the boiler: disconnect power, open the hot water taps and open the safety valve (lever vertical). Water drains through the drain hose. After emptying, leave the valve open as frost protection.

Safety

• Have the water and electrical installation done by a qualified technician, following the manual and applicable regulations.
• Fill the boiler completely with water before you switch the heating element on for the first time. Running dry damages the element.
• Do not cover the unit or add extra insulation - that can cause overheating.
• Check the water temperature before use. Hot water can scald, especially children and older people.
• When the vehicle is parked for a longer time, drain the boiler completely through the safety valve, even if you did not use it. Do not pour antifreeze into the tank.
• Work on the 230 V installation may only be carried out by a person with the proper qualifications.

Frost protection and care

When the vehicle stands unused for a longer time, drain the boiler through the safety valve, even if you did not switch it on. The cold water system can still fill the tank.

To limit automatic filling, you can fit hot-water-rated shut-off valves upstream of the cold and hot connections.

Do not pour antifreeze into the boiler.
