Ball Valve with 1/2" Ring Nut and 20 mm Hose Barb - Shut-Off Tap with Gasket for Motorhomes and Caravans
- Ball valve with a 20 mm hose barb and a 1/2" threaded connection with ring nut and gasket. You shut off the water with a quarter turn of the lever. For motorhomes, caravans and boats.
This ball valve connects a hose to a threaded part. On one side it has a barbed end for hose with a 20 mm inner diameter, on the other a 1/2" threaded connection with a ring nut and gasket. You mount it directly on a tank, pump or any other part with a 1/2" thread and get a tap to shut off the water at the same time. The larger 20 mm barb gives a higher flow than the common 13 mm hose, which helps when draining and filling tanks.

Thread on one side, hose on the other
- barbed end for hose with a 20 mm inner diameter
- 1/2" threaded connection with ring nut
- gasket included
- ball valve, opened and closed with a 90° turn of the lever
- red lever, position visible at a glance
- lightweight plastic body
One part replaces two here: a thread to hose adapter and a separate valve. Fewer joints mean fewer places where water can leak.
How a ball valve works
Inside the valve body there is a ball with a bore. When the lever is in line with the valve, the bore lines up with the channel and water flows freely. Turning the lever by 90° sets the ball across the channel and shuts off the flow completely. You close the valve with one movement and can see at a glance from the lever whether it is open or closed.
Where it works well
- drain of a fresh or grey water tank with a 1/2" outlet
- connecting a 20 mm hose to a pump, filter or manifold with a 1/2" thread
- shutting off water at an outdoor tap or shower in a motorhome
- water systems on boats and in holiday cabins
Installation
- Check that the connection you mount the valve on has a 1/2" thread.
- Insert the gasket and tighten the nut by hand, then snug it up slightly. Overtightening can damage a plastic thread.
- Push a hose with a 20 mm inner diameter over the whole length of the barbed end.
- Secure the hose with a hose clamp.
- Fill the system and check for leaks with the valve open and closed.
Gasket included
The gasket under the ring nut seals the threaded joint without tape or paste. If it starts to let water through after years of use, simply replace it with a new one of the same size.
Winter storage
Before winter drain the water from the system and leave the valve open so that no water stays in the body. Frozen water can crack plastic parts. After the season it is also worth turning the lever a few times so that the ball does not stick in one position.
Choosing the version
This model has a 1/2" thread and a 20 mm hose barb. The same valve type is also available with 1/2" thread with 13 mm hose, 3/4" thread with 13 mm hose and 1/2" thread with 16 mm hose. To fit a valve in the middle of a hose without any thread, pick the 2-way valve with two hose barbs.
Matching parts
- 2-way ball valve for 13 mm hose - two hose barbs
- 2-way ball valve for 10 mm hose - for thinner hoses
- 2-way ball valve for 20 mm hose - for thicker hoses
- Ball valve with 1/2" ring nut and 13 mm hose barb - mounts on a 1/2" thread
- Ball valve with 3/4" ring nut and 13 mm hose barb - version for a 3/4" thread
- Ball valve with 1/2" ring nut and 16 mm hose barb - 1/2" thread and 16 mm hose
- 3-way L-port ball valve with 1/2" female thread - switches water between two outlets

Frequently asked questions
Which hose does this valve fit?
Hose with an inner diameter of 20 mm. Push the hose over the barbed end and secure it with a hose clamp.
Do I need PTFE tape on the thread?
No. The gasket under the ring nut seals the joint.
How do I know if the valve is closed?
From the lever position. When the lever is in line with the valve, water flows. When it is across the valve, the flow is shut off.
My connection has a different thread. What should I choose?
The same valve type comes in several thread and hose sizes. Choose the one that matches your connection and hose.
What should I do with the valve before winter?
Drain the system and leave the valve open. This way no water stays in the body that could freeze.
