The Ø8 mm olive GB493 N is a brass compression ring in the low version (N = low). It fits all RVS 8 screw fittings on 8 mm gas pipe - valves, straight connectors, elbows, tees and reducers - and also English-type quick-shut valves. It goes onto the pipe under the fitting nut. When the nut is tightened, the olive clamps onto the pipe and into the fitting seat, making the joint gas-tight.

Fitting
- cut the pipe square and remove burrs
- insert a reinforcing sleeve into soft copper pipe
- slide the nut onto the pipe, then the olive
- push the pipe fully into the fitting seat
- tighten the nut or compression screw - the olive clamps onto the pipe
- the olive is single-use; once clamped it cannot be moved to another pipe
- check the joint for leaks with leak detector spray or a leak tester
