K&K M9900 marten repeller - high voltage with sleep mode, 4 brushes with activation sensors, battery powered 4 x AA, bonnet switch, for cars and motorhomes
- The K&K M9900 marten repeller builds up high voltage only when a marten touches a brush. Thanks to sleep mode, the 4 AA batteries last a very long time, independently of the vehicle wiring. 4 brushes and a bonnet switch included.
The K&K M9900 is a high-voltage marten repeller that stays in sleep mode most of the time. The brushes have activation sensors: when a marten touches one, the unit builds up high voltage within a fraction of a second and gives the animal a short, harmless pulse. Because the electronics do not hold the voltage all the time, the 4 AA batteries last a very long time. The manufacturer states that with proper use the running time matches the shelf life given by the battery maker. The unit does not draw on the vehicle battery and emits no ultrasound.

Key features
- sleep mode: high voltage appears only after a marten touches a brush
- 4 movable multi-contact stainless steel high-voltage brushes +/- with activation sensors
- pulse voltage above 250 V
- powered by 4 AA 1.5 V batteries, not connected to the vehicle wiring
- bonnet switch with instant discharge included
- waterproof design, E1 approval
- extendable by 2 more sensor brushes
The control unit connects to the cable through a compact plug, so if needed you replace only the unit, without removing the cable and brushes.
How sleep mode works
Classic high-voltage repellers keep the voltage on the plates at all times. The M9900 waits in sleep mode, and the sensors in the brushes wake it only on contact with an animal. High voltage builds up within a fraction of a second, so the marten gets the pulse exactly when it touches a brush. After the animal causes a short circuit, the high voltage switches off after a few seconds so the marten can escape. If the brushes are shorted or dirty, the unit reduces its current draw automatically.
High-voltage brushes
- alternating plus and minus strands, the bristles get through the fur and touch the skin
- no vehicle ground needed, so they also work with plastic engine covers
- slide them onto the cable of about 4 m and place them at entry points, paths and spots at risk of bites
- Phillips screws tap into the cable when tightened and make contact
Bonnet switch
The included switch prevents the voltage from building up while the bonnet is open. When mounting it, put the cable eyelet under the mounting bracket and tighten it with the screw to get a conductive connection, then push the 6.3 mm connector onto the lower contact of the switch.
Installation
- the manufacturer recommends installation in a workshop, and a lift makes low entry points easier to reach
- clean the engine bay and parking spot before installation, ideally with the marten scent mark remover
- mount the control unit where it cannot overheat, with easy access to the batteries and the plug
- keep at least 10 mm from other conductive parts and mount the brushes at an angle so water can drain
- do not overtighten the cable ties, and the cable end must not stick out beyond the last brush
- put the yellow warning sticker in the engine bay
- on electric and hybrid vehicles, follow the safety rules in the vehicle manual
Start-up and regular checks
- hold the bonnet switch pressed
- toggle the switch from OFF to ON 3 times
- both LEDs flash 3-5 times, then the unit goes into sleep mode
- repeat this check about every 6 months
- if the battery LED does not flash, replace the batteries, and if the high-voltage LED does not flash, check the batteries, brush contact, plug, switch and bonnet switch
- after switching off, the brushes carry residual voltage for about 3 minutes
Batteries
Use 4 ordinary AA 1.5 V alkaline batteries. The manufacturer guarantees full function only with batteries, not rechargeables. Batteries are not included.

Questions and answers
How does the M9900 differ from the M9300?
The M9300 keeps voltage on 6 brushes all the time. The M9900 waits in sleep mode and builds up voltage only when a brush is touched, so the batteries last longer. It has 4 sensor brushes and a bonnet switch included.
How do I know the M9900 works if it sleeps?
Hold the bonnet switch and toggle the switch from OFF to ON 3 times. If both LEDs flash 3-5 times, everything is fine. Do this about every 6 months.
Will the M9900 drain the car battery?
No. The unit has its own power from 4 AA batteries and is not connected to the vehicle wiring.
Will the pulse hurt the marten?
No. The pulse is short and harmless. After a short circuit the high voltage switches off after a few seconds so the marten can escape.
Can I add more brushes?
Yes. The set can be extended by 2 brushes with activation sensors that slide onto the existing cable.
