K&K M9300 marten repeller - high voltage, 6 brushes, battery powered 4 x AA up to 18 months, waterproof, for cars, motorhomes and EVs
- The K&K M9300 marten repeller protects the engine bay with six high-voltage brushes. It runs on 4 AA batteries for up to 18 months, independently of the vehicle wiring. No ultrasound, so pets are not disturbed.
The K&K M9300 is a marten repeller that works with high voltage only. Six multi-contact brushes placed in the engine bay give the marten a short, harmless electric pulse when it gets under the bonnet. The unit emits no ultrasound, so it does not disturb dogs, cats or other animals at home or near the parking spot. It runs on 4 AA batteries, so it does not draw on the vehicle battery and suits cars that stand for long periods, motorhomes, classic cars, electric cars and plug-in hybrids.

Key features
- 6 movable multi-contact high-voltage brushes +/-, pulse voltage above 250 V
- powered by 4 AA 1.5 V batteries, up to 18 months at an average draw of about 0.16 mA
- low-battery LED warns about 3-4 weeks ahead
- automatic shut-off while driving thanks to a vibration sensor
- no ultrasound, so pets are not disturbed
- waterproof design, E1 approval
The control unit connects to the cable through a compact plug. If needed, you replace only the unit, without removing the cable and brushes.
How the high-voltage brushes work
Each brush has alternating plus and minus strands of stainless steel bristles. The bristles get through the insulating fur and touch the skin, so the pulse acts on a larger area of the body than with plain contact plates. The brushes do not need vehicle ground, so they also work with plastic engine covers. When a marten causes a short circuit, the high-voltage function switches off briefly so the animal can escape. If the brushes are shorted or dirty, the unit reduces its current draw automatically.
Power and batteries
The M9300 runs at 6 V from 4 AA 1.5 V batteries. The average current draw is about 0.16 mA, so one set of batteries lasts up to 18 months. When the low-battery LED starts flashing, you still have about 3-4 weeks to replace them. Use ordinary alkaline batteries. 1.2 V rechargeables do not deliver the required voltage, and 1.5 V rechargeables discharge suddenly, so the LED cannot warn you in time. Batteries are not included.
LED indicators
- the high-voltage LED flashes slowly when the brushes are live
- the vibration LED flashes quickly when the unit has switched off automatically because of vibration
- the battery LED flashes slowly when the batteries are weak
Installation
- the manufacturer recommends installation in a workshop
- clean the engine bay and parking spot before installation, ideally with the marten scent mark remover
- mount the control unit where it cannot overheat, with the LEDs visible and the battery compartment easy to reach
- slide the brushes onto the cable of about 4 m and place them at entry points, paths and spots at risk of bites
- keep at least 10 mm from other conductive parts and mount the brushes at an angle so water can drain
- tightening the screws fixes the plate and taps into the cable, and the cable end must not stick out beyond the last brush
- put the yellow warning sticker in the engine bay
Start-up and checks
- set the switch to OFF and insert 4 AA batteries
- switch to ON and do not touch the brushes or the control unit
- on first start-up the LEDs may begin flashing only after a few minutes
- you can also measure the high voltage with a digital multimeter on the plus strand of a brush
- after disconnecting the plug the brushes carry residual voltage for about 3 minutes
Extension and accessories
The set can be extended by 4 more brushes. As options, the manufacturer offers a bonnet switch with instant discharge, which cuts the voltage when the bonnet is opened, and the M9300-ST replacement control unit.

Questions and answers
Does the M9300 disturb dogs or cats?
It emits no ultrasound, so it does not disturb animals at home or near the car. Only an animal that touches a brush in the engine bay feels the pulse.
Will the M9300 drain the car battery?
No. The unit has its own power from 4 AA batteries and is not connected to the vehicle wiring.
Will the pulse hurt the marten?
No. The pulse is short and harmless. After a short circuit the high voltage switches off briefly so the marten can escape.
Can I touch the brushes?
Avoid it. The voltage is not dangerous for healthy people, but the touch is unpleasant. People with heart conditions or a pacemaker should not touch the brushes.
Is the M9300 suitable for an electric car?
Yes. It works independently of the vehicle wiring and also suits cars with CAN bus, electric cars and plug-in hybrids.
