GOK gas leak tester type 4071, 90° outlet, RST 8 x RVS 8 - for motorhome and caravan LPG systems
- GOK type 4071 leak tester with 90° outlet for LPG systems in motorhomes and caravans. Press the button and a leak shows as bubbles in the sight glass. Connections RST 8 x RVS 8, max. 2 bar, pressure loss below 1 mbar.
The GOK type 4071 is a leak tester installed permanently in the LPG system of a motorhome or caravan. Press the button and any leak in the system after the tester shows up as bubbles in the sight glass. This version has a 90° outlet: an 8 mm pipe socket (RST 8) on the inlet side and an 8 mm compression fitting (RVS 8) with coupling nut type M and olive type D-MS on the outlet side. The housing is marked Alde Leak Detector 4071.

How it works
- quick leak check of the whole system after the tester at the press of a button
- a leak shows as bubbles in the sight glass
- the glycol mixture supplied allows testing also below 0°C
- maximum working pressure 2 bar, pressure loss below 1 mbar
- test as often as needed - the manufacturer recommends every time the gas system is used and at every cylinder change

Where to install it
- suitable for all low pressure LPG systems in motorhomes and caravans; it can also be retrofitted
- as close as possible to the regulator outlet, ideally in the gas cylinder locker; otherwise in a place protected from UV light and water
- always before any gas fittings or appliances
- vertically with the sight glass clearly visible, following the flow direction arrows - gas must not pass in the opposite direction
- fit supporting sleeves on copper tubes; sleeves and fixing screws are included
How to test
- open the main valve on the gas cylinder
- switch off all gas appliances and wait about 60 seconds until the flame failure devices cut off the gas (a click can be heard)
- press and hold the red button at the bottom for at least 10 seconds, longer in large systems
- wait at least one minute for the first bubble; if the following bubbles come more than 10 seconds apart, the system can be deemed sound
- if the tester shows a leak, do not use the system; find the leak with soapy water or a leak detection spray
Topping up and checking the tester
- close the cylinder valve, unscrew the sight glass and fill to the top mark, then refit the sight glass and check the gasket
- after filling, do not turn the tester upside down as the liquid may run out
- after topping up, check the tester itself for leaks - a leak in the tester also produces bubbles
- check the liquid level regularly
- function check: run an appliance with low gas consumption (e.g. the fridge) and press the button fully - bubbles mean the tester works

Questions and answers
Which systems does the tester fit?
All low pressure LPG systems in motorhomes and caravans, also as a retrofit. The inlet is an 8 mm pipe socket (RST 8) and the 90° outlet an 8 mm compression fitting (RVS 8).
Where is the best place to install it?
As close as possible to the regulator outlet, ideally in the gas cylinder locker. The tester must be vertical with the sight glass visible, before any gas fittings or appliances, following the flow direction arrows.
When is the system considered sound?
Press the button for at least 10 seconds and wait one minute for the first bubble. If the following bubbles come more than 10 seconds apart, the manufacturer considers the system sound.
Does the tester work in winter?
Yes. The glycol mixture supplied allows leak testing also at temperatures below freezing.
What liquid should I use for topping up?
The instructions specify only the Alde leak detector fluid, part no. 4070125. Fill to the top mark on the sight glass.
How often should I test?
The manufacturer recommends testing every time the gas system is used and at every cylinder change.
