Elgena temperature fuse - original spare part for KB and Nautic water heaters, protects the element from dry running
- Original Elgena temperature fuse inserted in the heating element. It cuts the element off when it runs without water. Fits Elgena water heaters except the Nautic Compact Luft.
The Elgena temperature fuse is an original spare part for the heating element of a water heater. The fuse sits in the element and protects the heater when the element is switched on without water in the tank. The element then overheats quickly, and at about 110-115 °C the fuse opens the circuit and cuts the power before more damage occurs. Once tripped, the fuse does not reset and has to be replaced. It fits all Elgena water heaters except the Nautic Compact Luft.

Key features
- original Elgena spare part
- trips at about 110-115 °C when the element runs dry
- inserted in the heating element, easy to replace
- fits Elgena KB 3, KB 3 Kombi, KB 6, Nautic Compact and Nautic Therm
- does not fit the Nautic Compact Luft
How to tell the fuse has tripped
The heater is connected, but the water does not heat up and the indicator lamp stays off. Usually the heater was switched on without water before, for example after draining it for winter or at first start-up before filling. Before you replace the fuse, check the power supply, the socket and the circuit breaker.
Replacement
- disconnect the power before replacing it
- ideally have the replacement done by a professional
- use only original Elgena fuses
- after replacement fill the heater with water first, only then switch on the power
How to avoid it tripping again
Always fill the heater with water first and only then switch on the power. The heater is full when water runs from the hot tap steadily and without air. Before draining for winter, always pull the plug or switch off the power. If you leave the heater powered without water, the element runs dry and the fuse trips again.
