The Reich adapter for 3/4" (19 mm) hose is a transition piece in the push-fit 28 x 1.5 mm waste water pipe system. On one side it has a 28 mm diameter, the same as the pipe, so you push it into the socket of a coupling, elbow or T-piece. On the other side it has a narrower spigot for a flexible drain hose with an inner diameter of 19 mm. This lets you connect the rigid grey water installation to the hose from a sink, washbasin, shower tray or tank.

How the Reich push-fit system works
The Reich waste water system consists of black 28 x 1.5 mm pipes and fittings: couplings, elbows, T-pieces and hose adapters. All parts are joined by simply pushing them together. You need no glue, no threads and no welding tool, and the manufacturer states that the joints are fully tight. This lets you build the grey water installation of a motorhome or caravan with basic tools and later take it apart, extend it or change the route.
When you need a hose adapter
Many drains in motorhomes and caravans come with a hose instead of a rigid pipe, for example a short section from the trap or the connection to a tank outlet. The adapter connects such a 19 mm hose to the Reich 28 mm pipe without replacing the whole installation. It also helps when you run the main line in rigid pipe with a steady fall and keep a flexible hose only at the end, where it has to get around an obstacle. If your hose is 25 mm, choose the other adapter of this series.
How to connect the hose
- Push the wide end of the adapter all the way into the socket of a Reich coupling, elbow or T-piece.
- Cut the hose square and push it over the full length of the narrow spigot.
- If the hose is exposed to vibration or tension, secure it with a hose clamp as well.
- Route the hose without kinks and with a fall towards the tank.
- After installation pour water into the drain and check the joint for leaks.
Installation step by step
- Plan the route from the sink, washbasin or shower drain to the grey water tank.
- Cut the pipe square to its axis, ideally with a pipe cutter, and remove burrs from the edge.
- Push the pipe all the way into the socket of the fitting.
- Lay the pipes with a steady fall towards the tank so that water drains by gravity and does not stand in the lines.
- Fix the pipes to the wall or floor with clips so that the joints do not move while driving.
- After installation pour water into the drain and check every joint.
